Wolverhampton North East Selects Emma Reynolds

Wolverhampton North East finally selects.

Wolverhampton North East CLP yesterday selected Emma Reynolds, special advisor to Geoff Hoon, as its Parliamentary Candidate.

Well done, and good luck, Emma!

It should also, perhaps, be noted that Emma Reynolds was selected on her own merit on an Open Shortlist and beat a number of strong local male candidates including sitting and former councillors, and also former Hornchurch M.P. John Cryer, without the aid of an All Women Shortlist and in what most would regard as a traditional midlands seat in a working class area; which is food for thought.

Reasons why we lose (#1)

I seriously expect with this news that this seat could be under serious threat from the Tories at the next GE.

The membership here has collapsed to not much bigger than a mothers meeting and what is left seems to be split into two groups. The problem is the smaller group are the activists who seem to have supported one of the two local candidates, while the larger group who have succumbed to heavy pressure are the typical never come to a meeting or deliver a single leaflet crew.

Expect fireworks in this seat if the Tory candidate actually starts to do something.
